Results of the first tests

The first components successfully left the climate chamber after 2000 h at 85 °C and 85 % relative humidity. A microstructural analysis and surface analysis using XPS (X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy) and TOF-SIMS (time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry) have already been carried out on these components.

The basis for the success of the AHBSEM project is the creation of bridging bubbles and cavities under components, which are then exposed to different climates. The subsequent analysis can then provide information about the effects of the defects.

In October 2023, the last components were painted with our robot and prepared with cavities or bubbles using previously tested methods. In the next step, the components will be placed in climate storage at the Fraunhofer IMWS with simultaneous functional testing. The first tests have already started in parallel with the painting process.
